Hi, my name is Brittany Wood Nickerson (she/her).  I am an herbalist, astrologer, author, educator, and kitchen enthusiast.  My approach emphasizes personal empowerment and evolution, healing personal and cultural narratives, holistic self-care, and intentional living.  I started Thyme Herbal in 2008 and it has housed over 15-years of my work as an herbalist and educator.  My approach to herbalism focuses on the use of bioregionally available herbs, which I integrate with traditional Western and Ayurvedic approaches to health, well-being, and the body.  My cornerstone program, The Art of Home Herbalism Online, represents my primary values as an herbalist and healer and my larger vision for herbalism in our culture – sharing the skills and knowledge to practice herbal medicine for preventative wellness, self-care, and common ailments at home.  While this program is currently the only in-depth herbal training program that I offer, for many years it served as the first-year in a three-year program training those on the path to becoming practicing, clinical herbalists. I also currently offer a series of mini-courses in herbalism and kitchen medicine.

I am the author of Recipes from the Herbalist’s Kitchen, The Herbal Homestead Journal, Sacred & Mysterious, Cooking for Winter Health Wellness, and Spring Cleaning, as well as a series of herbal medicine and self-care posters that I make in collaboration with my dear friend, artist and illustrator, Chelsea Granger.  Please visit the “Shop” page to learn more about my books and posters!
